about:
The second generation Mini Cooper was introduced in late 2006, although as a 2007 model. The MkII Cooper, also codenamed R56, came out as an aesthetically and mechanically improved alternative to the previous generation model, with a new engineering structure shared with French car group PSA Peugeot-Citroën. The current assembly line of MINI cars is split in three parts, best known as the Production Triangle: body panels are produced at Swindon’s plant, engines are built at the Hams Hall plant and final assembly work is done at MINI’s Oxford factory.
