Lancer Evolution III (Japan, 1995)

In August 1995, the Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution III came out to replace its predecessors and was even more quickly produced than them.
The new Evo model translated in some power output increase and both aesthetic and mechanic small improvements.
5.000 Lancer Evo III cars were built in both GSR and RS versions, until production ceased in August 1996.

The Lancer Evo III is powered by a turbocharged Mitsubishi Sirius front engine with 1997 cc (2.0 L). This car has 270 hp, achieves its top speed at around 149 mi/h (240 km/h) and goes from 0-60 mi/h (0-97 km/) in 4.9 seconds.
The Evo III has a 4-wheel drive system and a 5-speed manual transmission.

Unitary steel frame.   Platform Mitsubishi CE9A platform.   Suspension Front McPherson strut, coils springs, telescopic shock absorbers and anti roll bar, and rear multi-link struts with coil springs and anti-roll bar.   Steering Power assisted rack-and-pinion steering.   Brakes Vented front disc brakes and solid rear disc brakes.

Like all Evolution models, the third series is a 4-door sedan as well. However, the Evo III was said to appear somewhat more sober than the previous models.
Most noticeable changes are the car’s new side skirts and its new bonnet styling that allows a better air channelling to the radiator, intercooler and brakes.
