History, development and general characteristics

In 2007, the most recent e refined Lancer Evolution is finally launched – the 10th and current generation. The high-performance model derivates from the previously displayed Prototype-X and the production version Evo X is being produced since October 2007.
In the United Kingdom, the Lancer Evo variants will continue to be badged with the ‘FQ’ name, having its features directly drawn from the Evo MR.

Engine and Transmission

The Lancer Evolution X is given a 2.0-liter Mitsubishi 4B11 turbocharged and intercooled engine, producing 295 hp.
Non-regular Evo X variants, which are the ones sold in the UK, produce between 300 and 366 hp. The most powerful of these UK versions is the FQ-360 with 366 hp, top speed of 162 mi/h (260 km/h) and 0–60 mi/h (0–97 km/h) achieved in 4.1 seconds.

Mitsubishi provides the Evo X with a more advanced version of its all-wheel drive system, the ‘Super All Wheel Control’ full-time all-wheel drive (S-AWC).
Transmissions available for the Evo X are the regular 5-speed manual unit and a new sequential semi-automatic 6-speed twin-clutch transmission.

Chassis

Unitary steel frame.   Platform Mitsubishi CZ4A platform.   Suspension Front McPherson struts with control arms, Bilstein shock absorbers, Eibach coil springs, Bilstein monotube dampers and anti-roll bar; rear multi-link strut with forged aluminium control arms, Eibach coil springs and Bilstein shock absorbers.   Steering Power assisted rack-and-pinion.   Brakes Brembo vented discs with ABS and EBD on all wheels.

Lancer Evolution was launched in 1992. Evo, as it is also known, it’s a high-performance version of the popular Mitsubishi Lancer. Evo debuted as 4-door sedan, but a 5-door hatchback version was introduced with the launch of the ninth generation. Intended only for the Japanese market, the high demand abroad turned the model international. Today, Evo is sold in Japan, North America, Europe, Australia, and Southeast Asia.
