Japanese car builder Toyota unveiled the compact car that was named Corolla in 1966. Maintaining production until nowadays, the Corolla has become really popular around the world throughout its more than 4 decades of existence. Opposite to its beginning confined in Japan, this car is now being produced in many countries from every continent besides Japan, such as the United States, United Kingdom, Brazil, Malaysia, China, India, South Africa and others.   “Corolla” is actually Latin for small crown, which makes this model a part of Toyota’s tradition of naming its cars with the name “Crown” in different forms and languages. From 1997 onwards, the Corolla is considered to be the world’s top selling car model and Toyota has sold more than 35 million copies of it until today. It is even said that since its introduction, a Corolla car is sold on average every 40 seconds.
