The Škoda Octavia is a small family car produced since 1996. Its name is derived from a model originally produced between 1959 and 1971. The current Octavia is available as five-door liftback and station wagon.
There have been two generations of the Octavia model to date. A high performance version, the RS is also available. The RS features a 1.8-litre I4 turbocharged engine which produces 180 bhp (134 kW; 182 PS).
The first generation Octavia received a facelift in 2000 and the second generation was introduced in 2004. Major improvements in the new model are the independent rear suspension and improved interior.
The second generation was introduced in March 2004, with a new internal combustion engine range shared with other models of the Volkswagen Group. Body changes include more legroom for rear seat passengers and increased ground clearance at front and rear to reduce the risk of grounding on steep ramps or facing kerbs.

Skoda
The origin of Skoda Auto goes back to 1895. Václav Laurin, a mechanic, and Václav Klement, book-seller, both shared a passion for bicycles. When Klement tried to get spare parts to fix is bicycle and wrote to the manufacturer in Czech, he got an unfawl reply asking him to write in a language they could understand. In that moment, the two Czechs founded Laurin & Klement and started to produce bicycles under the patriotic name: Slavia.
