Gen-2 was released in 2004 to replace Wira. The name Gen-2 is short for Generation 2, to point out the continuity between the two models. In 2007 the Gen-2 received a facelift which included changes to the front bumper, grill and spoiler. Over the years, new variants were launched: a rally concept, an hybrid concept and a bi-fuel version.
