At the 2010 Geneva Motor Show Opel presented the Fextreme GT/E concept, a car that combines design with efficient environmental performance.
Following the brand’s so-called e-mobility unlimited strategy, Opel wants to show with this concept vehicle that electric technology can be adapted to all market segments.
Design features in the Flextreme GT/E include a low and wide stance, wing-shaped lights front and rear, a distinctive nose and grille, floating C-pillars and muscular, sculptured bodywork. The low, coupé-like proportions result in a drag coefficient of just 0.22, that according to Opel allows the vehicle to reach a 200 km/h-plus top speed and at the same time save energy, with the consequent extension of its driving range.
Equipped with the E-REV drive system, developed for the Ampera, the Flextreme GT/E was projected to have a battery-powered driving range of up to 60km and a total range of more than 500 km with estimated fuel consumption of 1.6l/100km and CO2 emissions of less than 40gm/km.
