Venturi Automobiles was founded in 1984 by Claude Poiraud and Gérard Godfroy in Pays de Loire, Coueron, France, to built passenger and sports cars. The brand MVS is an acronym for Manufacture de Voitures de Sport. MVS’s were designed to compete with the most famous cars of their time, such as the Bugatti, the Porsche and the Ferrari. Venturi’s sports car 400GT was the first one to be equipped with standard carbon brakes and is still regarded as one of the best sports cars ever produced in France. Venturi got excellent results in the BPR Global GT Endurance Series and in the 1993 and 1995 24 Hours of Le Mans races. In 2001 Venturi was sold to the millionaire Gildo Pallanca Pastor, from Monaco, who shifted the business to the electric powered engines manufacture.
