BMW will be debuting a deluge of new models for the US during its press conference at the New York Auto Show on April 4. North America will see the debuts of the X6M, M6 Coupe and Convertible, and 6-series Gran Coupe. Also, BMW will be launching the X1 compact SUV for the US, and it will go on sale there this summer.
The X1 will go on sale initially with BMW's new four-cylinder turbo engine already found in the the 3-series and Z4 in the US.
It will also be the first time the the 6-series Gran Coupe will be shown in the US. The four-door coupe/sedan hybrid is similar to cars like the Mercedes-Benz CLS and offers five-passenger-seating in a more stylish body than the 5-series. It will be available in the US as either the 640i with a 3.0l turbocharged engine or the 650i xDrive with an updated version of BMW's 4.4l twin-turbo V8 with 445hp that will go on sale later this summer.
The M6 Coupe and Convertible were shown in Geneva but will be getting their US debuts. They both use BMW's 4.4l twin-turbo V8 with 560hp and a seven-speed transmission. Acceleration to 60mph comes in less than 4.3 seconds.
The X6M with revised exterior will also be shown.
BMW did not announce pricing or any other details for any of the models that it said will be at the New York Auto Show.
