Acura has announced a new hybrid, flagship replacement for the RL to be dubbed the RLX at the New York Auto Show on April 4 at 1:50pm.
The RLX Concept will use Honda's Sport Hybrid SH-AWD system with a front mounted V6 and electric motors powering each rear wheel. The same system will be used in reverse on the next NSX with the engine powering the rear and the electric motors in front.
It appears that Acura has switched to a new, three letter naming scheme. The original NSX, then the RSX and TSX came in the early 2000s, and now Acura is adding the ILX, RLX and soon the new NSX.
Acura gave no indication what the new car would look like. The image in the gallery is the current RL.
