has signed Adrian Sutil to drive for the team alongside Paul di Resta.

Sutil raced for Force India from 2008 to 2011. His best year with the team was in 2011 when he was ninth in the drivers' championship.

Sutil did not race in 2012 following an accusation by Genii Capital, which runs the Lotus team, owner Eric Lux that Sutil broke a champagne glass and stabbed Lux in the neck in a nightclub after the 2011 Chinese Grand Prix. Sutil was arraigned in Germany in January 2012 and was found guilty after a two-day trial. His punishment was 18 months of probation and a €200,000 fine to be donated to charity.

"Having been away from the sport, I'm even more determined to achieve my goals in Formula 1.

"Things went really well at the Barcelona test last week and it almost feels as though I've never been away," said Sutil.

Sutil and Jules Bianchi had both been negotiating for the second seat at Force India. Instead, Bianchi will stay with Force India for the third year.

"It was a close call, but ultimately we felt that Adrian's experience and historic links to the team gave him the edge, and will provide us with the best possible chance of realizing our ambitions for the coming season," said team owner Vijay Mallya.
