Alpine will mark its official rebirth at the Geneva Motor Show when it unveils its revival sports car A120 (name still not confirmed). Recently the car was spotted testing in winter conditions and we got a closer look at its shape.
Pre-production concept testing in the snow
The Porsche 718 Cayman rival was seen testing close to the Artic Circle
by Autocar. The Alpine A120 was in pre-production disguise and seems like it hasn't changed much from the Vision concept which debuted last year at the Geneva Motor Show and in which the production model will be based on. Spotted differences include smoother side panels, wingless rear and the larger door mirrors.
Engine
The A120 will feature a mid-engined layout, however there is still no information about the engine. Still Autocar believes the sports car will receive a 1.8-litre unit based on the turbocharged 1.6-litre engine used in the Renault Clio RS. The standard model should get an output around 250hp while a high-performance version should go up to 300hp. A convertible variant is also being considered.
Premier Edition
At launch the revival model from Alpine will have a Premier Edition limited to 1955 units, honoring the year of foundation of the original brand.
Hitting the market later this year, the Alpine A120 should be priced between €55,000 and €60,000, clearly setting itself as a Porsche 718 Cayman competitor.
