Audi has officially started the market launch of the A1 model. The city car is already available at dealers in Germany for a test drive. In Austria, Belgium, Luxembourg and Switzerland the deliveries have also started and in mid-September most of the European markets will see the launch of the Audi A1. With enormous possibilities of customization, being able to be ordered in over 800 different exterior versions, the A1 will have a starting price of €15,800.
Good sales results for the A1 are at sight as Peter Schwarzenbauer, Member of the Board of Management for Marketing and Sales at AUDI AG says “Reports from our international dealers show us that interest in the A1 is exceeding our expectations considerably”. According to Schwarzenbauer Audi is already considering an increase of the production capacity by 20 percent.
The previous expected average production volume for the A1 was 100,000 units per year, primarily for the European market at first. The new A1 is already scheduled to be launched in the Asia-Pacific region and in South America in early 2011. Schwarzenbauer also adds that the Brand is “also thinking about bringing this generation of the A1 to China.” Until the end of 2010 50,000 units are expected to roll off the production line in Brussels.
Thanks to the pre-launch campaign for the A1, Audi had more than 150,000 prospective customers worldwide registering to receive information about its market launch and the latest campaigns. Throughout this time the four rings brand also received the renowned “red dot award” for its direct marketing campaign for the A1 introduction.
Featuring music from the hot new band Torpedo, the A1 commercial is already being broadcasted on television. The exclusive song, called “An Invention”, was produced by A1 brand ambassador Justin Timberlake.
