. It has sold 300,000 of them since their introduction in 2009. The compact crossover market is starting to grow with Opel Mokka and Audi Q3. It is about to grow the X1 even further by introducing it to the US. 

The X1 has won awards from a variety of magazines and media, including major publications like Quattroruote in Italy, "Auto Zeitung" in Germany, "Auto Bild" in Germany and the Red Dot Design Award. 

BMW offers five diesel engine and three gasoline engines in the X1 with between 116hp and 245hp. The most economical model is the sDrive20d EfficientDynamics with 163hp, 4.5l/100km fuel economy and 119g/km of CO2 emissions. BMW offers the X1 with its twin-scroll turbo engines and optional eight-speed automatic. BMW’s xDrive all-wheel drive system is also optional. The crossover has received five stars from Euro NCAP.
