that Wimille drove to take the win at the 1937 24 Hours of Le Mans.
“With our first Legend ‘Jean-Pierre Wimille’ we are celebrating Bugatti’s racing life, which experienced a meteoric high point with the Le Mans victory of 1937,” said Dr. Wolfgang Schreiber, President of Bugatti.
The Bugatti Legends models are meant to celebrate its history in a modern way. The car is painted in two shades of blue - French racing blue and a color Bugatti calls “Bleu Wimille.” The trim for the car is done in blue-tinted carbon fiber. Wimille’s signature is laser etched into the oil caps and dark blue tank. The interior is upholstered in “Bleu Wimille” leather and Lake Blue for the dashboard and center console.
The car is a homage to Wimille who race throughout the 30s. He won in the Type 57G Tank in 1937. The car was on display at Pebble Beach and provided by the Simeone Foundation Automotive Museum in Philadelphia for display.
