Cadillac SRX to Have Larger Engine and Standard Bluetooth for 2012

Cadillac's SRX is well into its second generation and is getting a major engine upgrade for 2012. The new truck, due in August, is dropping the 3.0l V6 that it has used since 2009 for a direct-injected 3.6l V6.

The new, standard engine is a 3.7l V6 makes 308hp and 265lb.-ft of torque, which is up 43hp and 42lb.-ft over the previous 3 liter. The larger engine does take a hit on fuel economy over the previous model. The 2012 SRX is rated at 17mpg city and 24mpg highway, which is down one mile per gallon in the city and on the highway compared to last year.

Cadillac have not given performance figures for the 2012 SRX, but even with the larger engine weight only increases by 53lbs, so expect slightly better acceleration numbers.

The 2012 SRX also comes with several other improved features including standard Blueooth. Voice recognition has been improved, and there is now an optional heated steering wheel.

Prices start at $36,060, which is $570 more than the 2011 SRX, and it will be available at dealers in the US in August.
