Formatted and completed text. The Malibu nameplate has been a fixture in the US for 47 years. It was sometimes the title given to the highest trim level and other times the name of the vehicle itself. Chevrolet has announced that it will be selling the Malibu in Europe in 2012 as its flagship model.
For power, the Malibu gets either a 2.0 liter diesel or 2.4 liter petrol engine with 164hp and 169hp respectively and will be available with either automatic or manual transmissions. The Malibu gets xenon headlights and LED taillights with 17in or 18in wheels
Chevrolet did not announce a price for the Malibu, but it comes with a limited amount of equipment that includes ABS, stability control, electronic brake force distribution and braking assist. It does not seem very competitive with similar vehicles in Europe, especially since its platform-mate, the Opel/Vauxhall Vectra, is already sold there. Because most of the vehicles already sold in Europe as Chevrolet's are relatively low in price, Chevy thinks that it can sell a lower priced Vectra with different styling to those looking for an inexpensive new vehicle.
There is already a new Malibu slated to come to be released in the US in 2013, and Chevrolet did not make it clear if Europe will be getting this model as well.
