Chrysler Considering Barracuda to Replace Challenger

The Dodge Challenger is not long for this world. It is on an old, still Mercedes-sourced platform and the car is too big to compete with the Mustang and Camaro. Chrysler would have to use build a whole new platform or get one from Fiat to build a new Challenger.

Chrysler knows that the Challenger has its problems, and it is looking into replacing the model with a new SRT Barracuda. The model probably will not be retro-styled like the current Challenger. But the platform would most likely come from Alfa Romeo.

Chrysler is working to spin off the SRT nameplate into its own model line. It announced earlier this week, that the next Viper will be badged as an SRT.
