from Back to the Future 2, but obviously that is not really possible. Instead, Riese created a Delorean-shaped hovercraft with help from the social financing site Kickstarter. Last night, Riese drove his creation outside of the San Francisco Giants' AT&T Park, and it showed up on television.
Riese asked for $5,500 on Kickstarter to build the vehicle and received $5,644. The car is built from a hovercraft kit modified to look like a Delorean.
He began the project two years ago when he built a rough draft version over four months, but it was unsafe. Since then, Riese has been rebuilding the car into a better, safer version.
The car is made from a wooden frame with fiberglass panels. There is foam in some areas to make the car buoyant incase the hovercraft fails.
Since finishing the car, Riese has registered it as a boat. He cannot register it on the road because it does not have brakes. It has a top speed of 45mph.
It has two motors. One is mounted in the front and pushes air down to make the car hover. The other motor is mounted in the back and pushes the car for propulsion.
