Group offers those who protect and serve us with the best pursuit-rated sedans in the business,” said Peter Grady, head of fleet development at Chrysler Group.
The all-wheel drive Charger Pursuit is powered by a 370hp and 390lb-ft 5.7-liter V8 that generally runs in rear-wheel drive. It will hit 60mph in 6 seconds and gets 25mpg highway thanks to cylinder deactivation. When the rear wheels begin to slip, power moves to the front wheels. When not in use, the front wheels are disconnected from the drive to improve fuel economy.
All V8 Charger police models get larger, 14.5in brakes for 2014, from 13.6in previously, that reduces the braking distance to 127 feet from 60mph. They also get a higher rear fascia and exhaust tips to not be damaged if the vehicles go off-road. Other upgrades include an upgraded fuel pump, variable-displacement air conditioner and optional parking assist.
Police forces will be able to order the car in the spring of 2014.
