It looks like Citroën's sub-brand DS may be edging closer to launch a production version of its supercar concept E-Tense. Recent patent filles indicate this information.
E-Tense concept was unveiled in 2016
Unveiled at last year's
Geneva Motor Show the E-Tense seems to have convinced PSA Group managers. DS has trademarked last week the name E-Tense, which further indicates the possibility of the supercar heading for production.
Supercar should only arrive in 2021
However the E-Tense may only reach the market in 2021, after the brand launches a new SUV scheduled for 2018. PSA boss Carlos Tavares has hinted the intentions of building a supercar as a halo model for the brand and even intends to send the concept to the streets of Paris to evaluate people's reaction.
DS has been gaining its market share with hatchbacks and SUV models so it is understandable that due to the risk of launching a model such as the E-Tense there is still no clear confirmation.
