The engine is sourced from the 523hp and 479lb-ft Maserati twin-turbo V8, which is already a 40hp and 107lb-ft of torque upgrade over the current California. The engine will likely be mated to a seven-speed dual clutch transmission.

Ferrari plans to have the updated car on sale by the end of 2014, and it is already being shopped to some wealthy Ferrari customers.

As part of plans to limit production, Ferrari plans to limit sales of the refreshed California to 500 units a year, and prices will increase somewhat.
