with the 85hp 0.9 TwinAir Turbo with Start&Stop and Dualogic gearbox have been certified by the Italian Ministries for the Environment, for Infrastructure and Transport and for Economic Development as the cleanest petrol-fueled Italian cars in terms of carbon dioxide emissions. They emit 90g/km of CO2 that is on par with hybrid cars for its emissions.

The TwinAir engine also won four International Engine of the Year Awards in 2011 in the 'under 1.0-liter' category, 'Best New Engine 2011,' 'Best Green Engine 2011' and 'International Engine of the Year 2011.' The new b-fuel CNG version won the "Best Green Engine of the Year 2013" award.

In 2012, Jato Dynamics awarded Fiat as having the vehicle fleet with the lowest CO2 emissions of any European automaker.  It was the sixth consecutive year that Fiat has taken the award. Its current average fleet emissions are 119.8g/km of CO2. The EU has passed a law that all European automakers must have average CO2 emissions of 130g/km of CO2.
