Fiat presents 500 Coupé Zagato in Geneva

Fiat and Italian design company Zagato have unveiled their concept car collaboration at the Geneva Motor Show labelled the 500 Coupé Zagato.

With no prior warning, the two companies presented the concept that will feature the 500’s classic 2+2 layout but with all new bodywork styling. Zagato, who were responsible for styling some of the original Fiat 500’s in the 1950’s, have created a bespoke exterior for the coupé that is targeted towards the “young and dynamic male”.

The most noticeable differences from the standard 500 are the emphasised wheel arches and redesigned rear which now features an integrated diffuser. Also featured is the trademark Zagato “double hump” roofline, giving the car a lowered look.Despite these changes, the Coupé Zagato still retains the same measurements as the basic Fiat 500.

Powering the 500 Coupé Zagato is a 105 hp TwinAir engine which Fiat has not used on any previous 500 model. The engine also achieves a respectable amount of torque (155 Nm at 2,500 rpm) while reducing fuel consumption and keeping CO2 emissions to 95 g/km.Fiat says this is because the engine features “turbomatching” – an engine-turbocharger coupling.

The 500Coupé concept also features interior styling by Zagato which includes “diamond” seats teamed the yellow chamois and black natural leather. Also standard are 17 inch "chrome shadow" wheels.
