series hybrid, but it could not survive. It went out of business last year and was taken over by the US Department of Energy, to which it owed a $193 million debt. Tesla on the other hand is growing slowly and still in business.
Now, a group of investors, many of whom are Karma owners, led by lawyer Ingo Voigt in Hamburg, Germany, have offered $25 million to the DOE to buy Fisker.
Under their plan, they would restructure Fisker and move production from Valmet in Finland to the US. Production would be less than the 2,500 cars a year that Fisker has previously made, but it would grow the company slowly. concept would not go into production because of the expense of creating a second model. If the deal goes through, the company headquarters would be in Hamburg.
“[Fisker] was too concentrated on design and production that it forgot that you also have to sell cars," said Voigt.
The investors say that they a German with experience in the automobile industry ready to take the position as CEO.
The German investors will have to register as a bidder for the company and buy the company when it goes to auction in the future.
