Hyundai Creates Zombie Killing Elantra Coupe for Comic-Con

The Walking Dead creator Robert Kirkman created the design for the zombie-munching Elantra Coupe, and the actual modifications were performed by Design Craft. 

By linking up with The Walking Dead and Kirkman, Hyundai is hoping to become more popular with young buyers who enjoy the comic and television show. 

Hyundai has created a four-part video series on Hyundai Undead that shows how the Zombie Survival Machine was created and built. In addition to the other modifications, the car has a roof hatch, weapons in the trunk, all-terrain tires, CB radio and PA system. 

Hyundai will let Comic-Con attendees sit-in and take pictures of the Zombie Survival Machine during the show. The booth will also have a zombie costume contest. 

“The Hyundai Undead program allows us to interact with hundreds of thousands of film, comic, TV and video game fans during this summer’s ultimate pop culture event,” said Steve Shannon, vice president of Marketing at Hyundai Motor America. 

Hyundai is also giving away the Elantra GT with the 100th issue cover in a sweepstakes on Hyundai Undead. 

“Designing the Zombie Survival Machine was just the icing on the cake. I’m very excited to see the amazing job they are doing in turning my doodles and ideas into a truly awesome car. I hope they will let me do a test drive before Comic-Con," said Kirkman.

San Diego Comic-Con runs from July 12-15 in San Diego, California.
