In the 2016 edition of NAIAS
Infiniti unveiled the final version of the
Q60 coupé, a year after revealing the
concept version. The new model replaces the G37 and is the new direct rival of the
BMW 4 Series and
Audi A5 coupés.
Compared to the
G37, Infiniti increased the dimensions in the Q60. The model is 4683mm long, 1850mm wide, 1385mm high and features a wheelbase of 2850mm.
The new model of the Japanese brand will be equipped with the VR30 3.0 V6 biturbo engine, which is part of the new engine family of the brand. Two version of the engine will be offered, one with 300hp and the other with 401hp.
According to Infiniti, the version of 300hp has an average fuel consumption of 8.5l/100km and produces 154g/km of CO2 emissions. The 401hp version has a previewed average consumption of 8.9l/100km and emissions of 206g/km of CO2. The model will also be offered with a 2.0-liter engine with 208hp. According to Infiniti the engine offers an average fuel consumption of 8.2l/100km, with CO2 emissions of 154g/km. All engines have been coupled with a seven-speed automatic transmission.
Despite being a rear-drive model, Infiniti will also offer all-wheel drive versions. The new Q60 will also receive the second generation of the Direct Adaptive Steering system, which according to the brand improves feel and feedback.
The driver will also have at their disposal a driving mode selection system with six different options: Standard, Snow, Eco, Customize, Sport and Sport +. The latter only available in some versions.
For models equipped with the V6 engine Infiniti will also offer the new Rack Electronic Power Steering system as standard. According to the brand this technology, which can be configured in the Drive Mode Selector improves the driving experience without the inaccuracy of traditional assisted steering systems.
The new Infiniti Q60 will hit the market in the summer of 2016.
