IPL adds a deeper front bumper and 19in wheels to the G Series

It seems Infiniti wants to join the ranks of Mercedes, BMW and Lexus by offering a significantly more powerful version of its mid-size sedan. IPL, which is Infiniti's sport tuning subsidiary, would add two turbos to the next generation G37's 3.7l V6 to bring power around 530hp.

The new car would be based on the next generation G-Series, which is due in 2014, meaning that this more powerful version would probably not come until 2015 at the earliest.

The model would be positioned directly against the BMW M3M3BMW M3Germany, 2009 > present2 photos

. Although, Infiniti would keep power, performance and price lower than the Nissan GT-R to prevent the two cars from competing against each other. There is no word on if this package will be available on just the coupe, sedan or both.

IPL already tunes a version of the G37, but the modifications are minor. It boosts power by 18hp through a better exhaust and tweaked ECU, suspension upgrades, body kit and 19in wheels. This is the car shown in the gallery.
