Jeep Bringing Wrangler Mountain Edition and 2 Concepts to Geneva

Jeep has started an initiative with unnamed concepts that it is letting consumers choose the name of. The first of these was the Cherokee concept, and now it is doing a production-ready concept for the Compass as well. Both vehicles will be on display at the Geneva Motor Show along with the new Wrangler Mountain Edition.

The Wrangler Mountain Edition will be available with either the 2.8l turbo diesel or 3.6 liter Pentastar V6 as either a two-door or four-door model. It is based on the Wrangler Sport and gets a Mineral Grey grill, painted, grey 17in wheels, black fuel-filler door and Mountain Edition decal on the hood. The interior has Slate Grey fabric and leather-wrapped steering wheel. The Mountain Edition is available in Gecko Green, Black, Bright White, Dozer and Black Forrest Green. All versions get a five-speed automatic transmission with two-speed transfer case. Options include a hard top, heated seats and upgraded stereo.

The Grand Cherokee production-ready concept is a little different in Europe than in the US. The American car was all black, while the European one is white. The European version also gets a 3.0 diesel engine, where the American car has the 3.6L Pentastar V6.

The Compass production-ready concept has a 2.2l turbo diesel with 163hp and 320Nm of torque. It gets gloss black exterior trim, 18in wheels and leather seats. It comes with a nine-speaker stereo with Bluetooth, 6.5in touch screen, AUX-port and DVD player.

If either one of these vehicles are well received in Geneva expect to see them go on sale soon. They are basically changes to trim and adding standard features to the already-available Grand Cherokee and Compass. It is a clever way for Jeep to find out what options are most desired on its cars and include them as standard.
