Jeep first showed its Wrangler Dragon editions a few weeks ago, but it did not go into much detail at the time other than that the truck would have gold accents and a gold dragon on the hood. Now, it has revealed the special edition Wrangler at the show in Beijing. Like the Chrysler 300C Ruyi edition, this Wrangler is meant to inaugurate the Wrangler name into the Chinese market.
The Wrangler Dragon Design Concept is based on the Wrangler Rubicon that will be sold in China. The truck is painted black with a black, removable hard top. The slats in the grill and the area around the headlights are painted gold. The truck's most striking element is the gold dragon on the hood that is repeated under the hood and on the wheel center caps. It has 18in black and gold wheels with 35in off-road tires. The rear wheel cover has a similar dragon design as the hood.
Inside, the Wrangler Dragon Design Concept continues the black and gold theme. The seats gold with black centers. The steering wheel, passenger bar and doors continue the theme. Dragons are embroidered on the head rests. The interior trim is piano black
The Wrangler will go in sale in China later in the year. They will be powered by the 3.6l Pentastar V6 with 284hp and 347Nm of torque with an automatic transmission. The interior will be identical to the version sold in other markets with the recently redesigned instrument panel and center stack.
Jeep sales increased in China 81% last year and is now the brand's most important market outside of the US and Canada.
