Jeep is to expand their line up over the next few years. The company will start by adding the new compact model before expanding other areas. Jeep have reassured followers of the brand that they will stay true to their off road heritage.
Jeep will be using a Fiat platform for their new compact car, set to be released in late 2013. It will be designed for use in North and Latin America and will be built in Toluca, Mexico alongside the Fiat 500 and Dodge Journey.
Jeep is also set to replace the Compass and Patriot models. Their replacement will be based on another Fiat platform, set to make its debut in 2014. Jeep CEO Michael Manley says the vehicle will be available in both front and all wheel drive.
Next up is the Liberty, which escaped a revamp for 2011. The crossover will be replaced in 2013 and is due to use a larger version of the Compass/Patriot platform. It is likely to remain an all wheel drive only model.
Finally, a new Jeep Grand Wagoneer will be based on the Dodge Durango platform. It will be Jeep’s flagship model, replacing the erstwhile Jeep Commander.
