The Gallardo was introduced for Lamborghini’s 40th anniversary and ends production in the same year as its 50th anniversary. It marked a major change for Lamborghini as the company grew from building 250 cars a year to 2,000 per year. The Gallardo accounts for roughly half of the 30,000 Lamborghinis made in the company’s history.
A replacement is expected to be introduced in 2014 and is rumored to share a platform with the next generation Audi R8Audi R8Germany, 2006 > present44 versions
