Land Rover revealed its special edition Evoque today at the Auto Salon China in Beijing with Victoria Beckham. Beckham inspired the car's trim including the use of rose gold. The car will also include a set of four bags that she designed and a wallet for the owner's manual that she designed and will sign.
The cars will be built at Land Rover's facility in Liverpool and finished by Land Rover's Engineering to Order division. All of the cars will come with a matte grey exterior with a gloss black roof and gloss black trim on the sides, bonnet vents, wheel arches and wheels. The wheels are 20in radius in matte black with rose gold accents.
"When I first started working with Gerry and the design team, on the Evoque Special Edition I did a lot of research, and created mood boards to show the team my love of timeless and classic design. I looked at yachts, luxury jets, classic cars, movies, personalities and fashion. It's the small detail that makes all the difference. I want everyone who gets into this car to feel special and empowered by its quality and craftsmanship. I like that it feels luxurious but also has quite a classic edge to it as well as a contemporary feel," said Beckham.
Inside, the Evoque has new semi-aniline leather that Land Rover calls Vintage. It is tan leather that covers the seats, door panels, arm rests and center console. Gloss black and piano black veneers are used on the centre console, bezels, door handles and air vents. There is more rose gold on the gear select. The floor mats are made from mohair at the request of Beckham who drew inspiration from vintage Rolls-Royces. The headliner is made from microsuede. The truck has an 825W stereo system by Meridian with 17 speakers and surround sound. There is also an 8in touchscreen for infotainment functions. It comes with a new system for Jaguar called the Surround Camera System that provides a 360 degree around the car. It also has Park Assist to park the truck automatically while the driver controls the accelerator and brake.
The Evoque Special Edition will be powered by a new 2.0l turbocharged four-cylinder with 240hp and 340Nm of torque with a six-speed automatic transmission. The engine is the same new four-cylinder developed by Jaguar but with a different transmission. It still comes with all-wheel drive with Jaguar's Terrain Response System that lets drivers select the correct driving program depending on conditions. It also has adaptive damping that retunes the suspension over 1000 times a second to improve the big truck's ride.
The Evoque Special Edition comes with a set of four bespoke pieces of luggage designed by Beckham. The set is made from black leather and includes two wheeled suitcases and two wash bags.
Land Rover will put the Evoque Special Edition on sale first in China in October 2012 and just 200 of them will be sold worldwide at a price of the equivalent of £79,995.
