Lotus had quite a good day on December 22 due to the first shakedown test of its new Exige R-GT rally car and the first start-up of its Indycar engine.
Lotus will campaign the Exige R-GT at tarmac rounds of the WRC, the first of which will be the Monte Carlo Rally at the end of January. It will also compete in Tour de Corse and San Remo
The first start-up of the Indycar engine was deemed a success by Lotus engineers, and the car will be shipped to the US for testing in January.
“The fire up in the car went really well, there were no nasty surprises and I think our partners are going to be very happy with the results. It was only October last year that we announced that we would become an IndyCar engine supplier and just 12 months on, we had an all new Lotus engine. And as for the Rally car, when you consider that we’ve only began working on this car in July, I think what we’ve achieved in that time has been incredible," said Claudio Berro, Group Lotus Director of Motorsport.
