Add another sedan to the pile for the New York Auto Show starting April 4, but this one is a tad more interesting. Mazda is bringing its Takeri concept to New York. This specific version of the car will be packed to the hilt with green tech on top of its 2.2l Skyactiv diesel.
The Takeri Concept at the New York show has stop/start tech and a capacitor-based regenerative braking system. The regenerative braking system takes the load off the alternator, and Mazda claims it improves fuel economy by 10%.
It is a mid-size sedan that has been rumored to echo the future shape of the next Mazda 6. The front grill has an opening that echoes the shape of the rotor in Mazda's Wankel engines, and the sides of the grill carry all the way into the head lights. It is a sharp-looking sedan, and hopefully when it comes to market it will keep its more stylish features.
It is also interesting that Mazda is showing it with a diesel at the New York Auto Show. Perhaps this signals that Mazda is planning future diesel-powered vehicles in North America.
