The system uses a near-infared sensor in the windshield to monitor vehicles and can engage the brakes and stop the vehicle if it detects an imminent accident is going less than 30km/h. “The CX-5 was the only SUV at the event, so it was an excellent opportunity to show how committed we are at Mazda to preventing accidents using a combination of state-of-the-art active and passive safety technology,” said Jeff Guyton, President and CEO Mazda Motor Europe. 

Mazda will also be adding lane departure warning to its cars in order to further raise Euro NCAP scores.
