Engine range
The new GLE will be available at launch with two diesel engines. The GLE 250d version is equipped with a four-cylinder engine of 2.0 liters with 204hp, with an average consumption of 5,4l/100km and emissions of 140g/km of CO2.
On the core of the GLE 350d is the popular bi-turbo V6 engine with 258hp and 620Nm torque. Compared to its predecessor Mercedes-Benz revealed that it managed to cut consumption by 9% to 6.4l/100km.
One of the main innovations of the new range of GLE is the introduction of the GLE500e 4Matic. According to Mercedes this is the first plug-in hybrid SUV in the history of the brand. The efficient version combines a 3.0-liter V6 BlueDIRECT petrol engine with 333hp and 480Nm of torque and an electric motor with 116hp and 340Nm of torque. Together they have a combined output of 445hp and 650Nm of torque.
The vehicle can be driven in four different modes: Hybrid, where the system is automatically managed balancing the use of both engines, E-Mode, the purely electric mode, E-Save preserving the charge level of the battery saving it for possible use of the electric mode and finally the Charge mode which charges the battery when driving or when the vehicle is stationary.
The launch of the hybrid version of the GLE will enable Mercedes to remain in competition with Porsche's Cayenne S E-hybrid and Land Rover's Range Rover HybridLand Rover Range Rover 3....United Kingdom, 2013 > present.
