Mercedes takes the wraps off C 63 AMG Coupé Black Series (updated)

UPDATE: Images added of the C63 AMG Black Series edition at the Frankurt Motor Show, 13.09.2011

Mercedes has unveiled the upcoming Black Series edition of the C63 AMG Coupé which is to be the most powerful C-Class the manufacturer has ever produced.

Engineered using Mercedes’ abundance of racing experience, the highlight of the fourth edition to the Black Series is without doubt its engine and performance. Producing 380 kW (517 hp) and 620 Nm from a 6.3 litre V8, the Black Series accelerates to 100 km/h from standstill in 4.2 seconds. It uses the AMG SPEEDSHIFT MCT 7-speed sports transmission which features four modes and double de-clutching and Race Start functions. An AMG sports exhaust system should also ensure an unbelievable throaty howl from the vehicle.

Specially developed AMG coil-over sports suspension is also fitted which offers a number of customisable settings, while a 3-stage ESP system and re-designed braking system ensures drivers stay on the road.

Commented CEO of Mercedes-AMG GmbH, Ola Källenius: “AMG has its roots in international motorsport. The new C 63 AMG Coupé Black Series is the best proof there is for the permanent transfer of technology from the race track to the road. The numerous successes in the DTM, the customer sports range featuring the SLS AMG GT3 and our commitment to Formula 1, where we have been providing the Official F1Ô Safety Car and the Official F1 Ô Medical Car for the past 15 years, continuously spur on our engineers and technicians. The C 63 AMG Coupé Black Series embodies the new AMG brand claim, Driving Performance, like no other AMG model.”

Not only is it to be ultra-fast, the C63 AMG Coupé Black Series doesn’t look to bad either. The threatening exterior visual elements include an ‘arrow-shaped’ front end, large front apron air intakes, cooling vent slits on the bonnet, a black front splitter, more protuberant wheel arches due to the lengthened front axle and rear axles, and air passages behind the rear wheels. Titanium grey AMG light-alloy wheels fitted to 255/35 R 19 and 285/30 R 19 tyres put power to the ground while the rear diffuser insert mimics the SLS AMG GT3 by protruding beyond rear apron’s profile.

Two optional performance packages are also available for the Black Series. The AMG Track Package adds specially designed Dunlop tyres and active rear-axle transmission cooling, while the AMG Aerodynamics package sees carbon fibre ‘flics’ fitted to the front apron, a carbon fibre front splitter and a fixed carbon-fibre rear aerofoil with an adjustable blade.

The C 63 AMG Coupé Black Series is currently on display at the German Grand Prix at the Nürburgring and will launch in January 2012 for a base price of 115,430 euros.

Gimme gimme gimme! I want the aero pack but not the big spoiler, if possible I want a more subtile one like the CLK black series.

Yea, look at the pictures from the IAA, that's the C63 with aero pack. On the official pictures you can see the 'normal' version.
