MG Showcases MG3 at Birmingham Design Center

has revealed more details on its forthcoming MG3MG MG3 3TIME United Kingdom, 2013 > present hatchback at its Birmingham, England, European Design Center. Production of the MG3 will go on sale in a few weeks and sales in the UK will begin in September. 

“It’s got a distinctive, cheeky style and will be fun to buy, own and drive, yet still affordable for a wide range of people. It’s the modern interpretation of a small fun MG and shows how we will take the essence of this iconic brand into the future,” said Guy Jones, MG Marketing Director.

The MG3 is based on the MG ZeroMG Zero ConceptUnited Kingdom, 2010 > 20103 photos
concept that was originally shown by MG's parent SAIC. Since then, SAIC has set up a European design center for MG as it attempts to launch itself in the UK and later Europe by using the better known MG name. 

The MG3 is a five-door hatchback with angular style that will be aimed at young buyers in the UK. It will be offered with a wide variety of options so that buyers can personalize the interior and exterior. It is offered in three trim levels, ten exterior colors and ten graphic packs. Higher trims come with LED running lights, a sportier front bumper, side sill extensions, a rear spoiler, lower rear valence panel and chrome exhaust.

Inside, higher trims will come with features like Bluetooth and a DAB radio.

The MG3 is 4m long, and MG claims that it will sit four 6ft-tall people comfortably.

The only engine at launch will be a 104hp four-cylinder with a five-speed manual.

MG says that it will reveal more details about the MG3 including economy and pricing later in the year.
