New NSX Concept and Two Other Concepts Debuting from Acura in Detroit

Acura will have three new concept cars at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit including a concept of the next generation NSX. The other two cars will be the ILX concept and a concept for the next generation Acura RDX.

The ILX is a compact, sports sedan that Acura says will launch later in 2012 in the US. It will be powered by a choice of three engines, including the first hybrid in an Acura. The car will be the entry-level car in the Acura range.

The big news though is that Acura will unveil a concept for the next-generation NSX that it says "represents the next generation of Acura's super sports car."

Autocar reported on November 29 that a new NSX could be incoming and even pegged its debut at the NAIAS. Autocar speculated that the car will be powered by a hybrid V6 making in excess of 300hp with all-wheel drive.

We will have to see how close Autocar is to the mark, but it is nice to seeing Honda at least considering building a super car once again.

In the gallery above are the Acura Advanced Sports Concept and Acura Advanced Sedan Concept that it has shown at a past NAIAS. Whether the new concepts will share styling from these older ones is not known.

I've been waiting for the NSX replacement for about 5 years. I hope Honda doesn't disappoint. I also hope they keep the new car true to the original.

The NSX was a great looking car. I never had a chance to try one, but would love too. It must have been good too, as it lasted for a very long time on the market.

It was a fantastic car, I mean it had a chasis built from heaven and looks blessed from above. And it was cheap compared to the Ferrari contemporaries...
