The Facebook page for the New York Auto Show has just announced that it will be the venue for the introduction of the next generation Chevrolet Impala. It did not say any more than that, but it also released an image of the car's rear pillar.
The car is expected to use the same platform as the new Cadillac XTS, and it will compete against the Ford Taurus and Chrysler 300. It is not clear whether it will be rear-wheel drive like the XTS and 300 or front-wheel drive like the Taurus.
The current Impala has been in service since 2006. It is only available with a 3.6l V6 right now, but a 3.9l V6 and 5.3l V8 were available earlier in its life.
The New York Auto Show holds is press days on April 4 and 5.
