at its Sunderland factory in the UK, and the cars will be supplied throughout Europe. The production involved a £125 million upgrade to the factory and added 2,000 new workers, including suppliers. Since orders began in July, Nissan has received 14,000 pre-orders for the Note.

"The new Nissan Note is giving mainstream B-segment customers an unprecedented combination of design, technology and safety features which up to now have only been available in premium brands.

"This investment is further endorsement of our Sunderland Plant, which is now an international benchmark for productivity and quality as a result of the hard work and consistently high performance by the management and workforce,” said John Martin, Nissan's head of manufacturing and purchasing in Europe.

The Note, while sold worldwide, has been tuned for European roads at Nissan’s tech centers in the UK and Spain.

The Note is offered with three engines – 1.2-liter three-cylinder, 1.2-liter turbocharged three-cylinder and 1.5-liter diesel. All of them are available with a five-speed manual, and the 1.2-liter turbocharged engine has an optional CVT. It is available in three trim levels – Visia, Acenta and Tekna.
