“The completely new, even more powerful 1.6 SIDI turbo with 200 hp debuting at the IAA makes our mid-size Cascada an extremely attractive offer to convertible buyers,” said Martin Vögler, Opel’s head of gasoline engines.

The new 1.6 SIDICascada 1.6 SIDI TurboOpel Cascada 1.6 SIDI TurboGermany, 2014 > present is an upgraded version of the 1.6 SIDI with 168hp. It provides 11% more horsepower and 30% more torque. The new engine uses 6.7l/100km and emits 158g/km of CO2. To provide the extra power, the new engine gets a cast iron engine block with new pistons and modified induction and exhaust systems.

The 1.6 SIDI engine will be the range-topper for the Cascada. It is set off by two exhaust pipes in the rear. It comes exclusively with the HiPerStrut front suspension. It will only be available with the six-speed manual at launch. The price for the new engine will be announced later.

Opel plans to add the 197hp tune of the 1.6 SIDI in more models later.
