production to Spain’s Zaragoza factory in the second half of 2014. Previously, the cars had been built at GM’s Bupyeong factory in South Korea. The Mokka has been quite popular in Europe, and GM Europe wants more production capacity.

“The decision for Zaragoza follows our company's strategy of building vehicles where we sell them. The enormous demand for the Mokka underlines the attractiveness of our vehicles, adds momentum to our product offensive and secures jobs in Europe,” said Opel CEO Dr. Karl-Thomas Neumann.

The Zaragoza factory will get an $80 million upgrade to be able to build the Mokka, and it will safeguard 5,800 jobs at the factory. The first cars will be made from complete knockdown kits, but full production will begin later.
