UPDATE: Images added of the Opel Rake concept at the Frankfurt Motor Show, 14.09.2011
Opel is definitely looking to call up for attention at the Frankfurt Motor Show, starting next week. The German brand has revealed the first images of a striking concept with ‘production potential’, that the manufacturer claims can “revolutionize urban transport, especially for younger drivers and those on a very tight budget.”
The new concept is based on the Ampera, and with it Opel expects to create in Europe a new class of light-weight, zero-emissions electric vehicles. Although its’ bold design, Opel engineers and designers have made the concept very practical, with two seats available in tandem layout.
With a very light weight, the new concept has been given agility and fun drivability, reaching a top speed of 120km/h. Its’ battery-powered electric engine offers a range of almost 100 kilometers.
More details about the new concept car from Opel will be revealed at the brand’s press conference at the Frankfurt Motor Show on September 13.
