Pagani Huayra a Success; Up to 85 Orders

For a hypercar that retails for £850,000, the Pagani Huayra can be considered a success. In less than a year since going on sale, Pagani says that it is ramping up production, and it has 85 confirmed orders to fill. It is also on track for US certification that will allow it to sell the Huayra there as well. It claims that the first Huarya's will be on sale in California in 2013.

Pagani has been testing 5 Huayra prototypes over 700,000km, and it says that the vehicle has met the standards for reliability and performance. Pagani also claims that the Huayra has the lowest CO2 emissions of any V12 sports car, not that any buyers really care.

Over the past two years, Pagani has been building a larger production facility that will finally be completed later in the year. It says that the new facility will allow it to be prepared for larger orders from Asia and North America.

“In 2012 25 Huayras will see the light of day, another 40 will follow in 2013. The first deliveries will be made in April. The Pagani Huayra represents a global project for Pagani Automobili. The Pagani dealership family has grown in 2011 and 2012 with new dealerships in Chile, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, Thailand, the United Kingdom and in the United States, Los Angeles, Miami and San Francisco.  Nonetheless Pagani is very strict about safeguarding the exclusivity of its small volume production in the respective markets" said Alberto Giovanelli, head of sales for Pagani.

The Huayra is the first vehicle to have such extensive use of movable aerodynamic aids. Four winglets are located at the car's four corners that adjust independently as needed. It is powered by a twin-turbo 6.0l, AMG-sourced V12 with 700hp and 1000Nm of torque mated to a dual-clutch transmission.

Pagani is also going to continue supporting the Zonda R program in 2012 because they have been used as testbeds for future technology. It will also complete the last five Zonda Rs in 2012 bringing the total production number of this variant to 15.

Wonder how hard or distracting it would be to do a version without the mirrors and just go with rear-facing cameras with an interior video display. Might add a kilo or two, but it would improve the lo...

It's a beautiful car, but as @tiagospeedy says if it wasn't for those mirrors. In general, I like the design of the Huayra, but I'd change the line of the mirrors. Lucky ones those new 85 owners ;)
