Porsche 911 GT3 Cup racer improves endurance credentials

Porsche are known for their constant evolution of the 911 sports car. With over 2,200 units of the race version sold to date the 911 GT3 Cup is the most successful customer racing car in the world. It is raced in 19 Porsche brand trophy series worldwide and forms the basis of GT2 and GT3 racing cars.

For 2012 Porsche have improved the versatility by increasing the size of the fuel tank. The GT3 Cup car is based on the road going 911 (997) GT3 RS and the engine is largely the same, with an output of 450bhp at an identical 8500 rpm to the road car. The car is fitted with a race exhaust system and a catalytic converter to improve emissions.

The new fuel tank has been increased in size to a 100 litre capacity. The FT3 fuel cell is filled through an opening in the front bonnet and improves safety as well as improving the cars suitability for a wider range of endurance racing.

The new 911 GT3 Cup will be available for delivery to teams from September. It is priced from 161,750 Euro plus value-added tax in the respective countries.
