With some of the most popular sports car models, Porsche continues to collect awards around the world. But not only its cars receive prizes, as this week Development Director Dürheimer also was honored with an award.
In Germany besides its popularity the Porsche cars also highly regarded. In fact three of Porsche sports cars top the list of the models with the best value retention, according to the projection from Deutsche Automobil Treuhand (DAT). The Porsche 911 tops this list and holds its value better than any other model on the German market. The Boxster and the Cayman follow the 911 in this list.
The Porsche Boxster was chosen in Australia, by a jury comprising eleven motor journalists from the “Sydney Morning Herald”, “The Age” and “drive.com.au, as best convertible and won the “Drive Car of the Year Award”.
In the UK, the Porsche 911 GT3 RS was voted “Car of the Year 2010” by EVO magazine. In a high-calibre competition it also beat the 911 GT2 RS, which came in third. Porsche was the only brand to have two cars in EVO’s top ten favourites list. The 911 GT2 RS was also chosen by Top Gear’s car tester Richard Hammond as his personal “Car of the Year”. The TV show also handed the “Man of the Year” to Porsche Development Director Wolfgang Dürheimer, recognizing the energy-efficient but supercar-worthy concept of the Porsche 918 Spyder.
Finally, in the USA, the Boxster and the Cayman were included in the list of the ten best vehicles on sale in the United States by the renowned “Car and Driver Magazine”. The Boxster and the Cayman also just received the eighth win in the prestigious Automobile Magazine All-Star award.
