a refresh with a more modern frontend and new supercharged V6 engine to replace the previous V8. All models now come with stop/start in Europe and an eight-speed automatic transmission everywhere.
The diesel engine options remain the same, but there is a new supercharged 3.0-liter petrol V6 replacing the previous supercharged 5.0-liter V8. The new engine makes 335hp (340ps) and 332lb-ft (450Nm) of torque. In Europe, the engine uses 11.5l/100km of fuel and emits 269g/km of CO2. In the United States, it gets an average of 17mpg. The US version does not get stop/start, therefore the higher fuel consumption.
Buyers now have the choice of a single-speed or twin-speed transfer case on four-wheel drive models. The twin-speed box offers high and low gearing for off-road driving but raises fuel consumption. The new single-speed transfer case does not offer low gearing but weighs 18kg less.
The exterior gets redesigns to the front grill, front bumper, headlights and LED running lights. It also gets new wheel designs. The front badge now says “Discovery” instead of “Land Rover.”
Land Rover had added water wading sensing, blind spot monitoring, close vehicle sensing, rear traffic detection and sideways facing cameras.
The interior remains the same but with one new option. The Meridian Surround system upgrades the stereo to 825 Watts and has 17 speakers.
Deliveries will begin in November in the UK, a few weeks later in Europe and a little later in the United States.
