has its benchmark.
“We know we can’t just make a car for hardcore enthusiasts and we wouldn’t want to. Our new car will be aimed at a far wider audience yet dynamically will still be unmistakably a Caterham," said Ridley.
As we knew, the Caterham and Alpine versions will have their own unique styling but will share a Renault turbocharged four-cylinder engine that is slated to have a minimum of 270hp. It will be offered with either a six-speed manual or six-speed paddle shift transmission. It should be enough to get the car to 60mph in about five seconds.
According to Riley, Caterham hopes to sell 25,000 of its version of the car each year with a base price of £40,000 (€48,800). It should be launched in 2015, and Caterham plans to give the car an eight-year life cycle. That should give them plenty of time to create an even higher performance version and all sorts of special editions.
